Over the Valentine weekend, Oso went on a field trip.  Here's what his friends said about him:

"Oso easily completed a nine mile, hilly hike at Lake Chabot.  Within a few minutes of setting out on the hike, we decided his name is short for "Oh So Friendly" because he wanted to greet every person and dog.  His tail never stopped wagging.

Throughout the hike, he made people smile with his friendly approach.  If he could have spoken, he would have been saying, "hi, hi, hi, hi!  I'm Oso. What's your name?" the entire time.  He was friendly to men, women and children, and it didn't matter if they were tall, short, fat, skinny or wearing funny hats.  Nothing spooked him, not even cyclists riding by.

Oso showed a lot of interest in the lake water and would have gone swimming had we let him.  He eagerly ran into the water from the beach with hardly a pause, but we reigned him in before he got past his knees.

Oso trained easily with food rewards.  He knows 'sit' and is pretty good on leash.  He pulled a bit, but he was easily corrected.  He never lunged or pulled with all his weight, even when he wanted to greet a dog.

Oso will make an awesome addition to someone active, take-him-with-them family."

Oso is a 3 year old, large, strong, handsome stunner.  Oso needs an owner who is experienced with large working dogs. His new owner must be committed to training the basics and beyond; Oso's previous owners didn't spend quality time with him and therefore he is used to doing things his own way.  However, Oso is a good dog, and will respond in kind when paired with the right owner.  He is food motivated, which he will easily train for.

Oso is very affectionate and happily rolls over for belly rubs.  Because of his sunny disposition, he will make a nice family pet.  Oso is fairly high energy and will need lots of daily exercise and mental stimulation.  He is a level 3 dog in the east bay.
