When you adopt a BAGSR dog, the last thing you should worry about is your new dog’s health. When you see this sign, you know that our volunteers & donors have ensured:
Your dog has a clean bill of health for heartworm, fleas and ticks. Your dog has received monthly medication to make sure the bugs stay away. Your dog has been spayed or neutered. Your dog has been microchipped and you'll be added to the registration. Your dog is current on rabies and DHLPP vaccines. Your dog has been eating good food and we will give you some to take home.
We want you to adopt your new dog with confidence. Thanks to all our BAGSR donors and volunteers who made this possible!
Toby’s owners are moving into a retirement home with a dog limit of 30 pounds. They are very sad at this situation. He is a stunning 94 pound 4 year old male GSD. He’s papered from the Covy Tucker Hill Kennel.
Strangers - We walked up to Toby and his handler and was basically ignored by him. He looked and wagged a little, but made no fuss. After a minute we shook hands with the handler, still no reaction from Toby. After 5 minutes of chatting we stroked Toby, were sniffed and got another tail wag. he's aloof with strangers, as per owners reports. We saw multiple other people and they were all ignored.
Dogs - Toby lived with a Sharpei and they get on fine. We walked along the fencing of a dog park and several dogs came up. Zero reaction from Toby, not excited, frustrated or aggressive.
We do not know how Toby is with cats
On leash, Toby does not pull, though he does not really heel. He’s an easy dog and very chill. He was on a harness and very easy to handle for just about anyone.
Training - Toby has basic commands, though he could use a brush up on these. That will be an easy and fun task for his new family. He loves the car, is crate trained and house trained. He is fine home alone and has never been destructive.
Health - Toby is neutered, microchipped, up to date on his shots and in very good condition. His coat sheens. His teeth are remarkably white for a 4 year old. We could manipulate his back legs with no discomfort and he leapt into a truck with no issues.
Ideal adopter - Just about anyone as he is so mellow and easy. Unknown with cats.
He's living in Novato.
