When you adopt a BAGSR dog, the last thing you should worry about is your new dog’s health. When you see this sign, you know that our volunteers & donors have ensured:

Your dog has a clean bill of health for heartworm, fleas and parasites. Your dog has received monthly medication to make sure the bugs stay away. Your dog has been spayed or neutered. Your dog has been microchipped and you'll be added to the registration. Your dog is current on rabies and DHLPP vaccines. Your dog has been eating good food and we will give you some to take home.

We want you to adopt your new dog with confidence. Thanks to all our BAGSR donors and volunteers who made this possible!

Come play with me! That's what a very young at heart Shizuka says. This lovely girl really enjoys her ball and toys and will play as long as you want.

She quiets down quickly though when game time is over, and is a joy to have in the house where she is good company, well mannered, and quiet (Shizu means "quiet" in Japanese).

The original owner's wife died and the the husband traveled for work and could not care for her, so after two years in a kennel, she is now being fostered in San Rafael.

Reported to be 9 years old, she has plenty of energy and and is always ready for a play or training session, or a walk.

It's clear Shizuka has lived as a well cared for house dog.  She is completely house trained (and signals quietly if she needs to go out), doesn't beg and takes treats nicely.

She likes to go on walks where she frequently turns heads as strangers comment on her stunning beauty. Then she wags her tail in greeting.

She also loves to accompany her foster family on errands in the car - but when she can't go along, is fine at home alone.

She greets at the door with a wagging tail and kisses!

We need to find this sweetheart her furever home.

She is great with adults and children inside the house and out.  However, if this girl is approached by weird strangers she will be on alert.  Like a guy in hoodie for example.

While staying at a temporary foster kennel, she got along with other dogs off leash outside in the play yard.

She walks and heels well on leash and knows how basic training commands, sit and stay, and will also shake paws.

With her foster mom, she has been reactive to other dogs on leash, but has been working on this with her foster family and is learning to refocus her attention.

She is highly motivated by treats and toys, and trains easily.

She is in the North Bay with one of our foster parents.

There will be no adoption fee for Shizuka.
