Zara is a well-built, strong and sturdy 63 pound 3 year old girl.  She has a thick coat, and her coloring is called bi-color.

Zara has joined us as an owner surrender.  Her family hopes that her next family will be able to spend lots of time with her and make her an indoor dog.

Zara is a happy, well-adjusted girl.  She is friendly with strangers and good with other dogs.  She visits the dog park every weekend and plays nicely with all.  When we evaluated her for our program, she met the test dog nicely and immediately engaged in appropriate play.

We also introduced her to Test Kitty; he jumped off the bed, approached Zara and immediately head bonked her.  Zara didn't know what to think: she approached, then retreated.  Approached and retreated.  Test Kitty stood there trying to make friends, and Zara remained cautious. :)  This is the first cat Zara has met; while it went well, we hesitate to say that she will be great with all cats.  However, we think Zara could do fine living with a dog-savvy cat.  However, she should not go to a home with cats that are not dog savvy.

Zara had extensive obedience training two years ago.  Being an outside only dog, she's quite rusty with her commands, but with a brush-up and consistency, we expect Zara will be an obedient dog.  She has nice people manners.  We expect that once Zara is invited in the house, she will easily chill, mind her manners and want to be with her people.  She does seek out affection, so anyone interested in Zara should be prepared to supply lots of pets and love; Zara will be in heaven.

If we were to order a family for Zara, it would be one that would make her a part of their active life, going on regular outings, meeting people and dogs and then crashing inside the house on a nice, cozy bed.  As we've said, she enjoys other dogs; she can be an only dog, or she could join a home with an established dog.

Zara is living in Union City until she meets her new family.
