Isn't she cute with her broken ears?
Greta has all of her manners and training in place. She is happy and smart and catches on very quickly.
Greta has just joined us after being with a trainer for several months. She's been living at a doggie day care and training facility (The Tail Haven in Lafayette) where she has received a lot of individual training and supervision while living with many other large and small breed dogs. While she did very well in this atmosphere, we believe her best success will be in a home with a strong, consistent leader. She's very, very smart and will take advantage of people and situations if she feels her people are not as strong as she is. Perhaps living with a single person, or with two that are on the same page, is how Greta will be the most successful.
Greta has been in a foster home for two weeks now, living with an older female dog. They get along very nicely, but Greta would also do well as the only dog in her family. She enjoys playing ball and throwing, chasing, and chewing on various toys. She also plays well her foster sister, chasing each other around the yard or playing tug. She's a great alert dog, as she likes to sound out when other people or dogs go by outside the fence. She also likes helping her foster sister keep the yard clear of critters.
She has her basic commands down, and has good indoor manners. And, she would do well with consistent practice and reinforcement of the rules and boundaries. She is an active and curious girl. She's very smart, and enjoys engaging with you - whether in play or training. She is a very friendly dog, and enjoys meeting all people. She walks pretty good on leash, but does need reminders to keep pace with the older, slower folks.. However, we also go on daily bike rides where she gets to stretch her legs, and she enjoys that a lot!
Greta is going to be an awesome dog for someone. We believe she will be a good running or hiking buddy, where all of her senses are stimulated daily. You've heard, "A tired dog is a good dog"... This is absolutely the case for Greta due to her intelligence.
No cats or small critters for Greta.
Greta is between 2 and 2.5 years. She's about 65 pounds of pure happiness.
The gsd has a bad reputation for being talkers, but that's not what we've experienced with most all of our dogs. However, Greta is different. :)
