Marleau is a big black beautiful boy. He's two years old and comes to us as an owner surrender. Marleau has been with his owners since he was a wee pup, and he's been well taken care of. In fact, he needs to lose a bit of weight. *wink*
Marleau's owners described him as more of a people dog than a dog dog; he was very people friendly when we evaluated him. When Marleau met the foster's resident dog, he was a bit timid, but after a few minutes of watching the happy and playful dog, Marleau began play bowing. It wasn't long before Marleau began running after his new friend. Marleau is currently being fostered with several other dogs; he gets along very nicely with them all. Within 24 hours of Marleau being at his foster home, he was running with the pack as if he had been a part of them for a long time. In fact, he and a few dogs didn't come for the breakfast bell; when foster mom went to find them, he was smiling from ear to ear, having a real blast. Marleau would probably enjoying having one or more playmates in his new family.
Marleau has gotten reacquainted with a crate and he's doing well, although he'd prefer not to go in it. He was used to spending time outside during the day and night; now he spends some time inside and lots of time playing outside.
This big guy is quite gentle; his big size does not dictate his presence. Rather, he had a scary encounter in a fear/learning period, and thus he can get spooked. However, he recovers quickly after a few seconds. Because of this, we will be very careful where Marleau is placed so that his scary encounters are minimal. If you, as a potential adopter, are interested in Marleau, we can easily identify the potential stresses.
Marleau is ready to meet people and will be ready for adoption very shortly.
