Murfee is sponsored by Kris Wittman.  Murfee says a big wet thank you!

Little Murf has been with us for 5 months.  He was  taken into protective custody by a local law enforcement agency, and we were caring for him so that he would get all the socialization and necessary environmental exposure while in 'custody'.  He has lived with many dogs, lots of cats, chickens and rabbits.  He has met 100+ people in his foster home, and he in very well-rounded.  We took great care with Murfee, not knowing if he'd ever be released to rescue after his court case.  Well, on 8/21, we learned he 'won' his court case and his new owner was Animal Control.  And luckily for all of us, Animal Control turned him over to BAGSR.  We are so relieved...

Everyone who meets Murf loves him.  He's a cute, sweet, calm, easy puppy.  He is happy all the time, gets along with everyone and even smiles when asked.  (In other words, we taught him to smile.)  Murf loves to play in water, tosses toys to himself and sometimes even plays with imaginary friends.  He truly couldn't be a better pup.  He's so gentle that he has made some shy BAGSR dogs feel more comfortable with dogs; he's a great testament to the GSD breed.

When we got the news Murfee would be awarded to Rescue, it was a no-brainer to keep him in the family.  He will be adopted by JJ and her 82 year old mother.  See, Murf's grandma spent a lot of time with Murf, and she fell in love with him.  She's always toyed with the idea that Murf would be a forever part of the family, and now he will.  Murf will begin obedience classes with his grandma, and he will likely become a Paws To Read Therapy Dog.

We don't mean to tease our potential adopters with Murfee's darling picture.  Instead, we want to share another way that BAGSR is involved in helping dogs.  We cared for Murf for his own well-being... at 6 weeks old and significantly abused already in his life, we were concerned for him.  Staying in the shelter for however long the court case would last was just not an option for Murf.  Because of our relationship with Animal Control, we were able to give him what every puppy needs, and we're very happy to say he's one happy, well-adjusted guy.

You will see Murf at many of our events in the future; he's a great guy, loves everyone and will be a great ambassador for the GSD breed.  When you see him out and about, see if you can get him to smile.
