My name is Harley. I’m a I’m a 2 year old boy GSD. I’m a big strong boy and weigh about 95 pounds.
I haven’t had much of a life as a family pet. I’ve lived outside then I had to stay at the shelter for a while since I was considered a stray. No one came for me so my new friends busted me out of the shelter. I’m now safe and sound with them in Windsor and am learning dog social skills.
I’m good with other dogs and just need a little practice reading dog language. I’m doing great though and am catching on quickly. I am a little over-stimulated while out and about. I am under-socialized and need to get used to getting out like a normal companion dog.
I pull a little on a collar but do great with a front clip harness. I know some basics like sit, down, heel and roll over. I am quite visual and don’t use my nose as a dog like me should. And everything is so interesting to me! I’m not afraid of traffic or loud noises.
I do great in the car and love to go for rides.
I respond very well to correction and am just looking for some direction from my humans.
I’m learning to pay attention and my new friends believe I will continue to progress with my focus and training.
Something you should know about me is that I’ll need a committed and experienced new family who can continue my training and teach me what is expected of me to live as part of a family. I’ll need a gentle and consistent leader who understands me and what I’ve been though. No doubt we will be proud of our progress together and have fun learning. I respond well to firm, fair treatment and lots of love and kindness.
I would benefit from dog school and regular training and exercise. I’m a wonderful student and enjoy learning new things.
I will do best as an only dog for now so my new family can focus their attention on getting me caught up on my learning. Exceptions can be made for experienced adopters. Also, because of my size and energy, my friends suggest that I should not live with children under 12.
I’ll be waiting with my friends in Windsor. Hope to meet you!
