Hi I'm Ava! The veterinarians and my new buddies at BAGSR think I am about 18 months old. I weigh a svelte 70 pounds and have classic GSD coloring, beautiful black eyeliner and a fantastic temperament. My owners chose me for my beauty and wonderful personality then realized that dogs were too much work --- sigh.

I am a social girl and I am happy to greet everyone like an old friend. I'm also polite and gentle with children. I am friendly with other dogs and meet them with good manners. I showed a little too much interest in the cat I met though so no cats for me please.

I pull on the leash until I have had the chance to unwind a bit but I have already improved dramatically after only a few walks. I really enjoy going out and using my nose to investigate. I am a diligent student and pay close attention to whoever is working with me. I really want to learn what my humans want from me. I love to "work" and am very responsive to gentle corrections. I am a quick learner! I have a soft mouth for treats and boy do I like them!  If you love to hike, jog or just explore I may be the girl for you. I can settle down nicely next to you if you need to stop and visit; I will wait quietly and observe my surroundings like a classic GSD. Also, I was wonderful in a crate for my ride from the shelter to Windsor.

I'm not that excited about staying in an enclosed kennel because my shelter time was not something I had been expecting. I have nice house manners and so enjoy being with my people. I sleep all night in my bed next to my foster family.

I love to go in the car and I ride politely. I got to ride up to see the snow and I sure had a wonderful time!

I am cooperative and patient with being groomed-including nail trims.

I completely engage with my whole foster family and they say that I would make a wonderful companion for a solo adopter or for a family.  I am a young , strong, sweet, smart girl who will bring boundless joy to someone who wants to work with a girl like me.

I'll be waiting with my foster family in Mill Valley.
