I am a 1 year old Anatolian Shepherd. We are one of the livestock guardian breeds and we are known for our courage and ability to protect our flocks.

They call me Lotus because I am such a special girl.

The Lotus flower is symbolic of purity and regeneration. My new friends at BAGSR think that fits me perfectly! I was found in a field and the animal control officer took me to the shelter where no one came for me.

The team from BAGSR was in the shelter when they brought me in and even though I was so scared that my whole body shook they saw that I never tried to hurt anyone. They came and visited everyday and watched to see if anyone would come.  When the stray hold was up I was too shy to meet the people who came to look for adoptable dogs and no one wanted a dog who would not run up for hugs and kisses.  I just stayed quietly in the back and hoped to get out.

My new friends kept coming. They took me out to play and they walked me at my own pace. When I see a green spot like grass or bushes I crawl over and then lay very still. This is what kept me safe before I came here.  My new friends understood and they sat next to me or carried me if they had to. I am very gentle and felt relieved that they understood that. They did not drag me on my leash but instead gently coaxed me and never rushed. I started wagging my tail when I saw them and even offering up my head for the leash to go on.

Something you should know about me is that I like other dogs. It makes me feel bolder to have another dog and I can gain confidence. I am still scared and the staff where I am staying is very sweet with me. They know that patience pays off. I am a big gentle girl with a beautiful double coat and a cute sprinkling of freckles on my nose. I am athletic and have a strong build. I take treats very gently.

If you gain my trust with your patience I will reward you with a wag of my beautiful tail and a smile.

If you love shy girls and have what it takes to slowly introduce me to the world then please come meet me. I will be waiting in Windsor.
