Duck is a gorgeous white German Shepherd Dog whose family was no longer able to care for him. In early adolescence, he is a great age to take on. He needs a very active family, hopefully people who love dog training and are aware of dog behavior needs. He does not tire out easily so he needs plenty of exercise three times daily. He plays a good game of fetch already and loves toys.
Large adolescent dogs have grown physically more quickly than mentally. He still jumps up to greet and when excited; less sturdy people of all ages should not have to deal with that.
Duck gets so excited seeing other dogs that he barks, and he is loud! This is frustration. He wants to sniff and interact but does not seem to know how to play. A playful dog who is not worried about his rowdiness and size might be a good companion for him to show him the ropes. He is not good with small dogs and other small animals.
Duck really needs a good education so he knows what you want him to do. Some of his frustration in life might be due to being left to his own devices. He is easily motivated by treats and toys; he will be a great dog to train, both smart, athletic, and most importantly, he wants to know what you want him to do. Running (when he is finished growing), playing fetch, and weaving in some short training sessions for both physical and mental stimulation will help him learn to calm down and focus.
German Shepherd Dog fans are in for a treat. Despite his wacky adolescent and sometimes puppy behavior, you can't help but fall in love with Duck.
