Hi I'm Sage. You probably noticed my gorgeous and unusual silver sage coloring. The shelter listed my age as 3 but my friends at BAGSR think I may be closer to 2. I was found by a child while I was hiding in the bushes - those cars whizzing by really scared me so I tucked in there and waited for a friendly face.

The shelter took good care of me but it was SCARY. Oh boy was I glad to head out of there! Within the first few minutes in my foster home I was leaning in for hugs and then standing up at my full height to explore the grounds with wagging tail and happy ears.

I am gentle, appropriate, and have great dog to dog manners.  I am learning new skills in my foster home and my foster parents are really wonderful. I love playing with my new dog friends and I am crazy about my foster parents.  I love dog friendly kids and I have been very gentle when meeting. I go to the dog park with my foster siblings.

I am still shy with people and really do so much better when I have another dog to help build my confidence! My new home will have to have a dog brother or sister.  This will help me build my confidence. Although I have learned basic commands like come, wait, sit, back, and count down for feeding time, I will need training, and a companion who will continue to help me know that my environment is safe.

In my new home it would be best for someone to be home . I do not do well if left too long in a crate at home by myself. My foster parents can explain more of what will help me best. I will reward you with my sweet, tender friendship and we can have SO much fun together. My foster family has really worked to help me feel safe and they will be happy to provide ongoing support to my new family.

My adopter will need to be very patient and experienced with shy dogs. I had an adoption where they tried to push me too hard and I got so scared that I spent my days hiding under the bed.  You will need to prove that you can provide for the needs of a very shy girl. My foster home has been a wonderful sanctuary where I spend my days playing and interacting with my foster parents and dog friends.

Are you my person? You can find me waiting in Port Costa - I'm worth it.
