Bay Area German Shepherd Rescue

Huge thanks to volunteer Pat who looked after this litter from the start.

The month of August has been keeping us very busy and it's not even over yet! In the first two weeks of the month, several dogs were adopted, and a few were monumental. First, Malherd was adopted on a Monday. TJ was adopted on a Thursday. Bergen, Thor and Taco were adopted on a Saturday. Mama Maya went pending, and on a Sunday, Gita and Darbie the Dobie were adopted. Whew!

Of course, the two HUGE adoptions were TJ and Bergen. We've posted TJ's story, but Bergen's is just as cool. Bergen is about 8 years old. He is also recovering from a very serious broken leg. His new owners wanted more of a low key dog, they were happy to help an old guy, and they didn't mind caring for him through the rest of his recovery. That is one special family to take Bergen.

We wish all the dogs a very happy furever. They all deserve the best, and we believe that's what they all got. Farewell Doggies!

Meet Sadie - this is a story of two rescue groups and a humane society working across almost 1,000 miles to save a dog.

What hope do you have when your owner dies and you are an elderly girl with severe medical issues?

Four days ago we received a call for help from the Auburn Valley Humane Society in Washington and Washington State German Shepherd Rescue.

Sadie has multiple severe health issues and little hope of being adopted. Yet she has the sweetest temperament. Miraculously, a family in San Francisco agreed to adopt Sadie for her final months. But how to do a home visit?

Karen, our head of adoptions, personally drove to San Francisco and met with the family for Washington GSR. The family was approved and now Sadie will have a private flight to San Francisco to meet up with her new family.

Huge thanks to the family in San Francisco, Karen, Washington GSR Rescue and the Humane Society who prove that when we all work together, anything is possible. Good luck Sadie!

Yesterday, Chris came to our adoption event and completed the adoption of Mango.  They have been fostering her for the last 2 weeks and fell in love - OF COURSE.

This afternoon fawn went to her furever home.  She was found as a stray in Santa Rosa, alone and frightened and it's taken us several weeks to help her pick up her confidence and get to fall in love with people again.

She is the sweetest girl and Tim drove up from San Francisco to meet her.  She instantly liked him and jumped into his car and off she went for a great new chapter in her life.
