Bay Area German Shepherd Rescue

Every month on the 2nd saturday we are in Danville at the Petfood Express at 609 San Ramon Valley Blvd.

The staff are amazing and always make us feel so welcome! We have the dogs in the back room and we also have the puppies in the puppy bowl at the front of the store.

The main purpose of rescue is to save dogs.  But a very important secondary role is to educate the general public about these amazing dogs, to let them see them at play and talk about the breed and their personality and character.

Our incredible volunteers do this at all our events.

Yesterday we had an amazing event in Petaluma.  Sixty classic cars, 5 rescue groups, 3 bands, a DJ and thousands of people combined to make a wonderful day.  If you missed it we'll be doing it again next year!

Come join us at the Petaluma Premium Outlet Mall this Saturday, June 7th for a very special BAGSR fundraising event.

There will be plenty of food, great music, vintage cars, an auction to benefit our organization and of course some of the cutest, sweetest adoptable dogs around.

There will be 3 live bands, a DJ and six rescue groups.

The event kicks off at 10am and we'll be there till 3pm. It is free and your K9 pets are welcome to join in the fun.

See you there!

On Saturday & Sunday our team rescued German Shepherd Dogs at the Maddies event at the StoneRidge shopping mall in Pleasanton. Just look at some of the dogs who went to their furever home over the two days! Huge thanks to our adopters & volunteers for helping save so many dogs.

Maddie's® Pet Adoption Days started in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2010, where Maddie's Fund® is headquartered. To date, Maddie's Fund has awarded $11.3 million to the participating groups which have adopted a total of 15,154 dogs and cats during the past four events. The money given by Maddie's Fund has enabled shelters to treat and rehabilitate senior pets and those with medical conditions - animals who likely would have been euthanized otherwise.

Maddie's Fund has helped our organization rescue a number of dogs and paid for their medical expenses if they were needed.

We will be there at this years event for both days.  So come and see us at Stoneridge Mall in Pleasanton on may 31st and June 1st.

Maddie's® Pet Adoption Days is a collaborative effort of countless people who want to save the lives of shelter animals, a testament to what can be done when people come together and rally for a common cause. To find out more information go to: http://www.maddiesfund.org

Trainers2

Our dogs are super smart and learn very quickly with the right direction.  We are often asked to recommend a dog trainer by people who adopt their new dog.  Our belief is that trainer works with you to help you train your dog. Over the coming days and weeks we will be creating a list with contacts.  We will only list trainers that our members have personally worked with and recommend.

Based in Novato, they offer an extraordinary range of training and behavior classes at very affordable prices. Many of our volunteers have undertaken their dog training classes with their personal dogs.  We are huge fans of Dawn and her entire team. See them on line here and call them on (415) 883-4621

Lisa Caper runs DogOvation covering Marin County.  Several of our volunteers have worked with her and they give great reports.  Like all the best trainers her focus is more on training the owner to train the dog.  You can read all about Lisa's philosophy on her website here and phone her at : (415) 299-1158
