Bay Area German Shepherd Rescue

Today we were at Woodlands Pet Food and Treats in Novato.  We met lots of people and two really awesome dogs.  Chief, right, is a 10 year old german Shepherd.  Millie, center, is a black GSD and Cola (left) is a 3 year old Dutch Shepherd.

We often get asked: "Where are you located?" The answer: "Everywhere in the Bay Area." You see, we have volunteers all over the Bay Area and beyond, so that's how we were able to be in two places at once this weekend. First we were in Danville at the Petfood Express where we talked to lots of potential adopters which ultimately ended up in three dogs finding their forever homes this weekend! But that's not all, two dogs went to foster homes to be loved on and socialized, alumni dogs came to visit and we recruited more volunteers - it was a great day in the east bay!

Meanwhile in the north bay we were at the Bay Area Pet Fair in Marin. This is a wonderful 2-day event where we get to share our mission, meet potential adopters and volunteers, and of course, gush about all of the wonderful attributes of owning a German Shepherd. Many people came by to see what we were about, and it was really fun to talk to them about what we do and why we do it.

Thank you to everyone who came out to see us this weekend, we really appreciate meeting you!

Every month we rescue German Shepherd dogs at our adoption event in Danville.

We start at 11am and finish at 1pm .  For volunteers there is a team meeting at 10:30am

Today we adopted Sammy and had much interest in another dog.  It's all about the dogs!

Transporting our dogs round the Bay Area is important. We want them to be comfortable and not at all stressed.

Today at Santa Rosa, JJ unveiled the new BAGSR dog wagon. It's a people carrier with crates instead of seats. Air conditioning in the back. Jj and the team will make modifications to enable us to transport food and equipment as well.

Our dogs are super smart and learn very quickly with the right direction.  We are often asked to recommend a dog trainer by people who adopt their new dog.  Our belief is that trainer works with you to help you train your dog. Over the coming days and weeks we will be creating a list with contacts.  We will only list trainers that our members have personally worked with and recommend.

Based in Novato, they offer an extraordinary range of training and behavior classes at very affordable prices. Many of our volunteers have undertaken their dog training classes with their personal dogs.  We are huge fans of Dawn and her entire team. See them on line here and call them on (415) 883-4621

Lisa Caper runs DogOvation covering Marin County.  Several of our volunteers have worked with her and they give great reports.  Like all the best trainers her focus is more on training the owner to train the dog.  You can read all about Lisa's philosophy on her website here and phone her at : (415) 299-1158
