Today we were in Santa Rosa at Petco for our first adoption event at this location.
We started out at 10am with setting up - we had a wonderful turnout of volunteers. If you've ever thought of being involved in dog rescue, coming along to an adoption event is so much fun.
The team brought cookies, muffins and all sorts of goodies. We'd managed to get a large piece of carpet donated by a GSD lover who owns a carpet store. Brian went to work with his knife and turned it into mats for the dogs. Chris had made a super cool device to hang our vertical banners.
What makes a successful adoption day?
Of course it's getting dogs into their new homes. It's also about meeting the public and educating them about rescue. As a rescue group we are different in that we don't mind who you adopt from as long as you adopt and save a GSD. We'll, even recommend dogs from other groups.
Today we met literally hundreds of people over 3 packed hours. If you were there, it was great seeing you. If not, maybe in December! And yes, we're going to have a record November, adopting more dogs than we ever imagined!
