A HUGE thanks to the ever so generous Kristy Jennings from Mable for sponsoring her - WOOF!

Mable is a really beautiful, sweet older girl with deep red coloring, who was witnessed being dumped off at Lake Mendocino with another shepherd.

Her companion was adopted but Mable was not as lucky. We pulled her out of the Ukiah shelter and got her into a foster home. She was taken to the vet for digestive problems, where it was found that she had, at some time in her life, undergone gastric torsion surgical repair, and a few things needed to be put back where they belonged.

The complications were taken care of, along with her spay, and Mable is recovering beautifully, and starting to bounce and play like a youngster. Since Mable had not been spayed we think she might have been someone's breeding dog, and now that her breeding days are over, they just dumped her.

Her foster dad says she is a real dreamboat and learning at a remarkable rate. He reports that she seemed to have had almost no training whatsoever and didn't even know what being inside a house was all about. In just a couple of weeks she has been house trained, learned to sit and wait for her dinner, mastered those once-scary stairs and how to walk nicely on a leash.

She has been good with all the dogs she has met except for a really hyper one who was very much in her face, and then she settled back down quickly after correction. She has been good with the kitties, too.

It's time that this beautiful girl got the loving home she deserves. She would do great with a senior or senior couple since she doesn't need a lot of exercise, and she'd make a really great couch potato.
