Hi, I'm Bailey.

I have had quite the journey to get where I am today. I was found as a stray in a local park by a good samaritan who is involved with cat rescue. They liked me so much that they agreed to rescue me when no one came for me at the shelter and then they found a wonderful foster home for me. My new friends took me to the vet and now I am spayed, microchipped, in good health, and weigh about 76 lbs. I was diagnosed with Pannus, an eye disorder that requires daily drops. My wonderful fosters taught me that food comes after drops so now I get in line for my medicine - I love it!

I LOVE people. Small people, big people, any people! More than anything, I want my own family to bond with and love. I am mostly low key, and am still learning how to respond quickly when outsiders are approaching the home. Even still, I am more loving than aggressive. I like training; after all, I just want to show you my loyalty and appreciation. i will stand on my back legs for a hug or to kiss you on the cheek.

I am great at learning boundaries; you just need to be patient and consistent to show me what they are. I love walks and love to explore, just keep me on a leash for now, until you can spend time reinforcing the safety of being off leash. I love both physical and mental exercise. I am much smarter than my shyness shows. I walk pretty well on a leash with just a harness.

I need someone who knows Shepherds and will put in the time to continue building my skills. I believe I am a lap dog and will cuddle and lay with you on the couch, floor, or patio. I would be happiest as your only pet; however, if you take the time to help me trust other dogs then I will follow your guidance and let down my guard. I have trust and anxiety issues with other dogs, and need your help in this area. I have never had the opportunity to practice dog skills so I will bark, lunge and generally act like a very rude guest when I spot one. This is common and a reactive dogs class would be a great place for me to learn how to behave.

I am well behaved in the house and do not need to be crated. I am house trained, only chew on my things, and can be left alone both indoors and out for a few hours with no problem. I love being brushed and I love my chew toys- I even like to bury some! My new favorite toy is a big hard ball and I can keep myself very entertained.

My current foster home and yard provide me great comfort. I can be anxious when away from home, especially on long car rides; yet, I can manage.

I will appreciate a regular, structured routine and a guardian who will continue to work on my training.

If you don't already have a dog and know about GSDs then I may be the girl for you. I am sweet, sweet, sweet.

This is a courtesy posting. I'll be waiting with my foster family in Port Costa.
