Bay Area German Shepherd Rescue

We love German Shepherds and are excited to be working with Tony and the team at Leonardi's Auto repair in Novato.  They have generously decided to knock $10 off your bill if you donate $5 when you pick up your vehicle.

It's a win for you and a win for these amazing dogs who need all the help they can get.

If you are in the North Bay and would like to have your vehicle services AND help the dogs, you can meet Tony and the team at 7426 Redwood Blvd, Novato, CA 94945.  Call them at (415) 897-1503.  You can see them here.

Thank you for thinking about helping the dogs!

We are a 501(c)(3) organization operated 100% by volunteers, based in California. Our EIN# is 46-3103205.

Your donation is tax deductible.

Did you know that the cost of rescuing one German Shepherd Dog often reaches $900?

A new collar? $11

Some toys & chews? $25

Food for two months? $58

Check up vaccinations and microchipping? $100

Spey or neuter? $250-400

We pay all medical bills, spaying and neutering, vaccinations and microchipping.  We pay for transport of the dogs, their food and buy them toys and treats while they are in our care. In addition, we save dogs that have severe medical or health issues.  Our volunteers work miracles to proverbially get these dogs back on their feet, but it all costs money.

Jacquie Owen of Blackhawk Chorus and BAGSR said "These dogs arrived in rescue through no fault of their own.  Your generosity helps start a new chapter in their lives”

Thank you so much for considering helping the dogs.  Every cent goes to the dogs.

Last week TJ was fitted with his new $3,000 cart. A few months ago he lost one of his front legs and we've been looking after him as he waits to go to his new home. He's still learning to get around, so going for a walk is different at the moment. professional photographer Corinne McCombs was there to capture the moment.

At our Danville Adoption events Trish and the team run our Odin and Friends group.  It's a wonderful playdate for dogs that have been in need of special medical attention and therapy and gives the public a chance to see another side of rescue. In 2014 you'll be hearing much more about Odin and his friends. Lots more news about TJ, Odin and our dogs over coming weeks.

Our dogs are super smart and learn very quickly with the right direction.  We are often asked to recommend a dog trainer by people who adopt their new dog.  Our belief is that trainer works with you to help you train your dog. Over the coming days and weeks we will be creating a list with contacts.  We will only list trainers that our members have personally worked with and recommend.

Based in Novato, they offer an extraordinary range of training and behavior classes at very affordable prices. Many of our volunteers have undertaken their dog training classes with their personal dogs.  We are huge fans of Dawn and her entire team. See them on line here and call them on (415) 883-4621

Lisa Caper runs DogOvation covering Marin County.  Several of our volunteers have worked with her and they give great reports.  Like all the best trainers her focus is more on training the owner to train the dog.  You can read all about Lisa's philosophy on her website here and phone her at : (415) 299-1158
